Last night Bayern Munich did the last game for the season against SC Freiburg but not for the good and expecting win we are going to write today, we are going to write about a small fact which you noticed during this epic game – the home kits of Bayern Munich with which they went on the pitch and played till the end of the game.
The kits were very similar to the kits from season 1973 – 1974 as Bayern Munich tradition was kept, to show the kits in the last round of the Bundesliga season and to keep the history of the club alive by renovating the old kits and using them as new ones. We must say that we are surprised how the club kit brand "adidas" did those kits as they look pretty good and unique and we are sure there is no Bavarian fan who will dislike them.
“You have to feel comfortable in a kit. It has to have some connection to the club and give you a good feeling,” commented Thomas Müller, highlighting what he thinks is important in a kit. The retro aspect rounds off the new home jersey. “It obviously makes you think of the three league titles and the likes of Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge,” added Müller.
Interesting fact is that during that season Bayern Munich managed to win the Silver Salatiera and claim the Champions League (or European Cup Holders as it was named by that time) and we can say that they are doing it to hopefully make the same achievements next season as well. The kit is totally different from the kit this season as instead of playing with red shorts, the team is going to play fully in red as the only white on the kit will be on the shirt as there are going to be a thin stripes on it.
“I was lucky enough to wear the 1977 kit and even at the time I really liked the design,” commented chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the reissued jersey. “This kit symbolized the start of a great era. Bayern had just won the European Cup for the first time. We were also German champions and many of the players from this team had also become World Cup winners in 1974,” stated the club president Uli Hoeneß, looking back on the amazing successes of his playing career.
We will see whether this move of the Bayern board directors is going to have some impact over the club but one is sure that without quality signings, they are not going to win those trophies as they want. After all, it is always great to see something like that and we would like to wish luck and glory to Bayern for their new upcoming season!
