The New Jersey Devils are a team on the rise in the stacked Eastern Conference, thanks in large part to the play of goalie Cory Schneider.
Though the Devils aren't a serious threat to make the playoffs this season, they've shown signs of improvement.
On Monday night, New Jersey turned in a sparkling performance, shutting out the Boston Bruins 3-0 in Newark.
Schneider made 22 saves, but none were as impressive as the one in the video below, where a shot from Brad Marchand sat periously on the goal line before Schneider was able to leap on top of it and keep the score 1-0 heading into the second period:
That save inspired the Devils, who continued their strong defensive performance in front of Schneider for the rest of the contest.
The Devils tacked on two more goals in the third period while Schneider preserved the shutout victory.
The win improved the Devils to 15-16-7 on the season, which gives them 37 points, good for 14th in the Eastern Conference. The loss dropped the Bruins to 20-16-4, but they still hold on to the No. 8 seed in the playoff race with 44 points.
In 28 games this year, Schneider has a record of 11-12-5 and has allowed 79 goals while making 762 saves, good for a save percentage of 90.6 percent. Monday night was his second shutout of the 2016-17 season.
